Energy Transfer
P.EN.06.42 - Illustrate how energy can be transferred while no energy is lost or gained in the transfer.
Most forms of energy can be transferred into other forms; however, energy is never created or destroyed!
Law of Conservation of Energy: States that energy cannot be created or destroyed, only transformed in from type to type.
Energy Transformation is the change from one form of energy to another. Often, multiple transformations occur during work or activity.
Example: Mechanical energy is used to light a match. Then thermal energy is released from the match, which releasees stored chemical energy, which turns into electromagnetic energy in the form of light.
One of the most common energy transformations is the transformation between potential energy and kinetic energy.
